Dustin Horton teaching since 2023
Dustin grew up in a small town in the Arkansas Ozarks, where he began taking piano lessons at the age of seven. In middle school band, he was one of the district’s first class of French horn students. Both instruments followed him through college at Arkansas Tech University, where he studied music performance and composition under Dr. Gary Barrow. He marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade three years in a row and played the principal horn part in several pit orchestras for his university’s musical theater program.
After moving to North Carolina in 2014, Dustin earned an undergraduate certificate in audio engineering and worked at Evenform Studios in Raleigh, helping to record for local artists as
well as more recognizable names like A Flock of Seagulls. He now runs a small home recording studio in Cary, and when he’s not teaching, mixing, mastering, or recording, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two cats.
Dustin finds great joy in sharing his love of music through teaching. Figuring out fun ways to engage students of all ages and seeing them progress is the best part of teaching!
